Memorial Day Weekend 2009

So instead of spending a lot of money and going far away to the campground,
we had a staycation in our own backyard. Next to the community garden
behind our next door neighbor's house, neighbors have made
a fire pit and cut down the tall grass, dragged in tree logs, etc.
to make a campground kind of idea. Kids and some dads
slept out while the moms got to sleep inside in their own beds.
We had the fire going. It's huge! "Burning down the house!"
Breakfast the next morning of breakfast casserole,
french toast casserole, fruit, doughnuts, hot chocolate,
the works.
It's literally in the back yard. We had a ball!!

But that's not all we did. The next day we went to a park

with a really steep hill and had a GIANT slip and slide.

It was probably about 175 feet long. A hose at the top and

a hose in the middle to keep it wet, sprayed the sliders

and they got a good run...

...check out the form...
...the big splash at the end...

...but then the long walk back to the top...

...or just sitting at the bottom relaxing.

Then we came home and had potluck dutch oven

for dinner. What a weekend!!
